The Folk Songs Of Michigan, America and Your Life

The Blue Water Ramblers sing extraordinary folk music- the folk song of Michigan, America and YOUR life. We perform wherever people want to celebrate: Folk festivals and concerts, paddle wheelers and lake ships, in cities and out in the woods, on stages and around campfires, at church gatherings and traditional dances. For a really good time, contact the Blue Water Ramblers for your next event!

Great Lakes History In Song

Russ Franzen is a singer/songwriter who performs original songs about the history of Lake Boats, Lighthouses, Shipwrecks, and life along the Great Lakes.

Lee Murdock has uncovered a boundless body of music and stories in the Great Lakes. Taking snapshots from history, his songs summon the listener to take a front-row seat, to look through the eyes and into the hearts of individuals who have shaped our heritage on and around the Great Lakes. His concerts invoke a sense of place, but it is a universal place, and a timeless repertoire that celebrates the North American people, their triumphs and tragedies, work songs and pastimes.

“I was born in 1958 so I grew up during the sixties and seventies in Flint, Michigan. Lots of changes took place there and around the world during that time—mostly in ways we relate to one another. My first musical memories are of the radio hits of the fifties. I was hooked. Then a musical revolution ensued in the sixties and seventies that continues to influence the shapes and topics of my songs. Music is my joy and passion. I love writing songs and I love singing them. Thanks for listening.”

“I had Dan's maritime music on my radio show within 24 hours of my first listening. It's that rare combination of great music and history.” –Matt Watroba, producer/host of Folks Like Us, WDET Public Radio, Detroit.
